Live For Today, Plan For Tomorrow

Some people think you can’t enjoy life today if your focus is on doing things that prepare you for an enjoyable future. I actually think just the opposite. Regardless which side of that issue you are on, I have 5 tips for you that I believe will enhance your life. We’ll discuss them in more detail over the next several blogs. My goal is to help you see how you can divide your time and money so you can enjoy today without risking a pleasant tomorrow.

Tip #1– Begin With the End in Mind

Whether thinking long term or just about today, we need to assess where we are and where we want to get to. I like the Power of Three – pick 3 things to get done today; long term decide on your 3 biggest financial concerns.

Tip #2– Live Within Your Means

Seems logical, almost too simplistic. But if that were the case why would we have so many people buried in debt. Especially credit card debt with 20+% interest rates. We need to better understand how to spend enough now, but not too much.

Tip #3– Protect What You Have

There are so many facets to this issue I hardly know where to start. Of course insurances are part of this topic, but we’ll discuss other components of protection planning. A solid plan allows you to enjoy today without concern that you are at risk for losing something that you can’t afford.

Tip #4– Invest Wisely

This is where the rubber meets the road. All the planning is inconsequential without a profitable use of your wealth. Put another way, the better you invest,  the more you have to spend on today’s lifestyle. And that is our focus  – live for today.

Tip #5– Maintain, Monitor, Measure

Life is a marathon, we hope, not a sprint. Our decisions for today and for all our tomorrows need to be done within the context of the options available to us. Risk and reward.
